Intermediate Marimba Masterworks, Vol. 2, to Be Introduced At PASIC in Indianapolis
The second volume of Intermediate Marimba Masterworks commissioned and edited by Nancy Zeltsman will be introduced this November at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) in Indianapolis. This volume contains commissions by Louis Andriessen, Chen Yi, Fred Hersch, Betsy Jolas, Lyle Mays, J.K. Randall, James Rolfe, Steven Stucky, Chinary Ung and Errollyn Wallen as well as works by Zeltsman Marimba Festival composition contest winners, Jude Carlton and Kaori Okatani. Volume 1 of the set is proving to be very popular, and the expectations are for Volume 2 to be just as well received.
Also on the agenda for PASIC will be the release of the CD of recordings of the complete set of Masterworks. The recording will feature performances by Ivana Bilic, Thomas Burritt, Jean Geoffroy, Beverley Johnston, William Moersch, Gordon Stout, Jack Van Geem and Nancy Zeltsman. Many of the same performers will be on hand at PASIC on November 13, 2009 at a session devoted to the Masterworks collection and will perform works from it. The session will be at 2 PM in the Sagamore Ballroom at the Indianapolis Convention Center.
C.F. Peters Corporation is very pleased to be a part of this project, and Gene Caprioglio, Vice President for New Music, will be at PASIC to introduce the session.
