Jonathan Dove There Was A Child CBSO Performances

Spring 2011
Throbbing minimalist ostinatos; syncopated, ricocheting rhythms; catchy harmonic shifts; singable lines... Impossible not to be moved. (Times, review of world premiere in 2009)

City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra has programmed two performances of There was a Child, Dove's large-scale work for choir and orchestra, this spring. Brighton Festival Chorus and CBSO perform at Brighton Festival on 22 May with Joan Rogers (soprano) and Ben Johnson (tenor), and at Birmingham Symphony Hall on 18 June, with CBSO Chorus, youth and children’s chorus and soloists Ailish Tynan and Toby Spence. Simon Halsey conducts.
