Two works by Rebecca Saunders are premiered at the Huddersfield Festival this year. Composer in residence at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in 2010, Saunders has enjoyed a long association with Huddersfield. On 24 November Stasis for ensemble will receive its UK premiere, following a highly successful premiere in Donaueschingen in October and Dialogue for viola and percussion will receive its World Premiere in a concert given by long-standing Saunders champions, ensemble musikFabrik.
Following the successful UK premiere of James Dillons new work for ensemble The Oslo Triptych on the opening weekend of the 2011 Hudderfield Festival, his most recent string quartet will be performed in the UK for the first time on 26 November. Originally commissioned for the 2010 Donaueschinger Musiktage, the Sixth String Quartet will be performed by the internationally renowned Quatuor Diotima.
And 26 November also brings the UK premiere of Brian Ferneyhoughs Chronos-Aion for ensemble in a concert given by Ensemble Linea. The concert marks the UK debut of the ensemble.
