Helena Tulve And Erkki-Sven Tüür At The Nostalgia Festival
Polish premieres warmly received
The first performances in Poland of Erkki-Sven Tüür’s Symphony No. 8 and his Awakening for chorus and orchestra, as well as Helena Tulve’s Abysses for flute and orchestra, were met with great acclaim at this festival for contemporary music in Poznań. They were performed by the Amu Chamber Choir (choirmaster: Krzysztof Szydzisz) and the Osma Symfonia Orchester, conducted by Marek Mós.
Erkki-Sven Tüür had not visited Poland in a long while: almost three decades ago, as a student, he was invited to the Warsaw Autumn through the Estonian Composers’ Association. This time the concert in Poznań was preceded on the previous evening by a screening of Marianne Körver’s filmic portrait of the composer, 7 Etudes in Pictures.
