New recording to celebrate John Cage's 100th birthday
As part of the celebrations for John Cage’s 100th birthday, the first ever complete recording of Song Books has been released today.
Composed in 1970, Song Books contains 90 “Solos for Voice”. In a performance or recording, any number of these “Solos for Voice” may be performed by any number of people, in any order, selected by chance operations.
A few of these Solos have been recorded before... but only a few. Now, for the first time, all of the Solos in Song Books are gathered together in one recording.
Recorded by Lore Lixenberg, Gregory Rose and Robert Worby and released by Sub Rosa Records, this 2-CD set includes with the recordings a digipack and 24 page booklet with photos, scores and exclusive texts. Additionally, all solos are individually available to download.
