Roxanna Panufnik’s setting of a libretto by Norman Lebrecht – derived from his acclaimed novel The Song of Names – will be heard at Portsmouth Cathedral. Before that, on 4 October, a new brisk orchestral piece celebrating the bicentenary of the birth of Charles Dickens, Great Dickens!, is being premiered, again by the London Mozart Players at Fairfield Halls, Croydon, Surrey – more information here. Roxanna Panufnik’s Fairfield Fanfare – also for the LMP – will be conducted by Hilary Davan Wetton at the celebrations of the Fairfield Halls 50th anniversary.
