A Walk with Ivor Gurney at Gloucester Cathedral 31 August
A new work for mezzo soprano and choir by Judith Bingham will receive its premiere on 31 August 3013 in a performance at Gloucester Cathedral by Sarah Connolly and Tenebrae Choir conducted by Nigel Short.
It will then receive a second performance at the Barbican's England's Finest event, with The Drowned Lovers by Bingham also on the programme.
A Walk with Ivor Gurney has been commissioned as the highpoint of a day of events organized to raise funds for a newly commissioned stained glass window celebrating the life and works of Gloucestershires famous poet composer, Ivor Gurney. Stained glass artist, Thomas Denny has been commissioned to design the eight-light window, which will be installed in the Cathedrals 15th century Lady Chapel.
The opening pages of A Walk with Ivor Gurney can be found here, as can scores for other Judith Bingham works.
Further details about the event and tickets can be found on the Gloucester Cathedral website.
