New works at the Cheltenham Music Festival, July 2014
This year’s Cheltenham Music Festival features new work by Roxanna Panufnik and Nicola LeFanu. Roxanna Panufnik’s Memories of my Father is a two-part tribute to her father, and in particular to his own string quartets, and will be performed by the Brodsky Quartet on Saturday 5 July 2014.
Nicola LeFanu has collaborated with librettist Nancy Gaffield and Okeanos Ensemble founder member Kate Romano to create Tokaido Road. Set in the hedonistic ‘Floating World’ of Japan’s Edo society, this new chamber opera combines music, mime, poetry, visual art and dance to tell the story of Japanese artist Hiroshige’s journey along the Tokaido Road in the 1830s.
