Stephen McNeff is Composer in Residence at Presteigne Festival 2014
Stephen McNeff is to be Composer in Residence at this year’s Presteigne Festival, which runs from 21-26 August 2014. The Festival kicks off with a performance of Prometheus Drown’d, following its world premiere at the end of July in London. The chamber opera, a reworking of an earlier commission from the Presteigne Festival, explores the strange circumstances surrounding Percy Bysshe Shelley’s death in 1822 and features a libretto from contemporary sources by Richard Williams.
The Festival will also feature performances of McNeff’s Cello sonata by the Leonore Piano Trio, The Song of Amergin for unaccompanied choir, Four Songs for the Virgin of Guadeloupe, Madrigali dell’Estate and the world premiere of a new Concerto for Oboe and String Orchestra at the festival’s final concert.
Roxanna Panufnik’s Love Endureth will also be performed at the festival in a concert with the Joyful Company of Singers.
