The World Premiere of James Dillon's Stabat Mater in Huddersfield in November 2014 was an extraordinary occasion. London audiences now have a chance to hear the work when it comes to the Queen Elizabeth Hall on 21 January 2015. The performance will once again be given by the London Sinfonietta, BBC Singers and conductor Ilan Volkov.
Described by Andrew Clements in the Guardian as, beautiful, distant and compelling the 75-minute work is a haunting meditation on the Stabat Mater text, enriched with further commentary by Donne, Rilke and Picasso.
