Richard Dubugnon’s new piano concerto, Klavieriana, has its world premiere on Friday 26 February at London’s Barbican Centre. The piece, for solo piano, celeste and orchestra, is to be performed by Noriko Ogawa and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Fabien Gabel, in a concert also featuring Ravel’s Le tombeau de Couperin and Prokofiev’s War and Peace.
Dubugnon is one of the most highly in-demand Swiss-French composer of his generation. At 47, he has a catalogue of over 70 works which have been performed on the five continents by prestigious artists and orchestras. He has recently received the Grand Prix from SACEM, the highest distinction from the French royalties collection society and has just had highly very successful tour of his Caprice No.1 for orchestra with the Philharmonia Orchestra under Esa-Pekka Salonen, in London Royal Festival Hall and on a Swiss tour (Oct.-Nov. 2015).
