Indianapolis Opera has given the U.S. professional premiere of Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park with performances from 18 March 2016 through to 20 March at Butler University’s Schott Center for the Arts. Mansfield Park, based on the Jane Austen novel of the same name, follows the adventures of Fanny Price (played by Kate Tombaugh) in Regency England as she is contracted to marriage.
Since the 1998 premiere of Flight, Dove has been celebrated as one of opera’s leading modern composers. His recent work, The Monster in the Maze, a community based opera that recounts the myth of the Minotaur, was premiered by London Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Philharmoniker and Festival d'Aix en Provence in 2015.
