Jonathan Dove will be featured at the Sacconi Festival in Folkstone this month, curated by the Sacconi Quartet. 20th May sees the world premiere of In Damascus for string quartet and tenor Mark Padmore. On 25th May Richard Dubugnon’s Caprice No.2 will premiere at the Philharmonie de Paris with Orchestre de Paris conducted by Paavo Järvi, with further performances in Zurich and Bern. Dubugnon’s series of works conceived as ‘concert openers’ continues next year as the 3rd, Caprice Romain, has been announced for 3 performances in April 2017. The Orchestra della Accademia di Santa Cecilia will give the world premiere in Rome, conducted by Antonio Pappano.
Brian Ferneyhough’s Contraccolpi will have its European premiere on 4th June 2016 in Cologne. Musikfabrik and Emilio Pomarico will perform the piece which was such a success in the USA in March when it was premiered by Talea Ensemble at the Library of Congress. Mark Andre’s riss 2 will be premiered in the same concert.
Dove’s A Brief History of Creation for children’s voices and orchestra will be premiered by The Hallé at Bridgewater Hall on 19 June and Arion and the Dolphin has further performances with Collegium Musicum of London at St James’, Piccadilly, and Pro Nobis Singers & Poco Amabile children’s choir at Ambleside Paris Church (both on 18 June).
