Ensemble Perpetuo's Voyages Of The Sea

Panufnik and Beamish at the Cutty Sark
Ensemble Perpetuo perform music by Roxanna Panufnik and Sally Beamish in the Dry Berth at the Cutty Sark on Thursday 22 September 2016.

Co-presented by the ensemble and the Royal Museums Greenwich as part of the Totally Thames Festival, the concert features Panufnik’s The Upside Down Sailor, with narration from Richard Stilgoe, inspired by the true events involving the sailor Tony Bullimore, who managed to
survive in an air pocket in the upside-down boat in pitch darkness, having lost his food supplies, aside from a bar of chocolate during an around-the-world race.

Featuring some of the UK’s top soloists and chamber musicians, Ensemble Perpetuo’s performances seek to augment the concert experience through multi-art form collaborations. For the event at the Cutty Sark, the ensemble will be joined by the London Photo Festival who will be curating a special exhibition inspired by the theme Voyages of the Sea.
