Gustav Mahler - Symphony No.6 In A Minor

New Critical Edition
The problematic editorial history of this majestic work is well known; Mahler's revisions to the score prior to the première, the most dramatic of which was the reversal of the order of the two inner movements, led to two scores being produced, one with the changes and one without. When it came for later editions to be produced the editor Erwin Ratz chose the earlier order and soon orchestras all over the world were playing the symphony in a way in which Mahler had not seen fit.

Due to the pioneering work of Jerry Bruck and Reinhold Kubik, the Internationalen Gustav Mahler Gesellschaft Wien, and with the support of the Kaplan Foundation, Edition Peters can now present the first truly authoritative edition of this work to performers across the world. With a large-format score including a comprehensive foreword and critical commentary exploring the symphony's problematic history, as well as newly engraved parts, it addresses all of the issues with which orchestras have struggled for so long.
